FAQ

Are Blinc vape cartridges made from safe materials?

t is just as important for the materials that are used into creating a cartridge are as safe as the oil that goes into it. Blinc goes to great lengths to assure that all of the materials that go into making our disposables are sourced and tested by Blinc to meet our high standards. Quality and safety are two of our core values and we believe that it is important for all of our products to go through heavy metal testing and pass with a certification. If you’re really looking to assure there can be no heavy metals, then why not use a cartridge with no metal, our all ceramic and glass cartridges.

All of our vape cartridges and disposable materials are sourced and tested to assure consistent quality every time. Our cartridges are manufactured at an ISO13485 pharma-grade facility using medical grade material such as SUS304 stainless steel, thermal shock resistant borosilicate glass, food grade silicon, and powered by an XPro-V ceramic coil.

Are Blinc vape cartridges compliant with international standards?

The Cannabis industry is still a nascent industry and it does not yet have internationally accepted standards in place. Cannabis vaping hardware is regulated on a local level, which means that compliance standards will differ from country to country and more so if you take the USA as an example from state to state. From its inception The Blinc Group established quality, compliance and safety as our core values.

We made sure that regardless of the location of our clients: Europe, USA or Canada we have the necessary compliance documentation and our hardware meets the local regulatory and safety standards. To give you an example we provide both CE EMC and FCC certificates and tests reports for our batteries and disposables with CE EMC being an EU directive on electromagnetic interference standards and FCC a US one. In regard to cartridges specifically, there is one standard which is widely followed in the US and Canada and most likely will become international, which is heavy metal leachability testing. At Blinc we do lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic leachability testing of our cartridges for up to 90 days with controller oil provided by the testing facility and test results collected at 3,7,15,30, 60 and 90 days.

Do Blinc Vape Cartridges pass emissions tests?

The cannabis industry and regulators have done testing on the actual aerosol (or vapor) produced by cartridges or emissions testing. Unfortunately, this amount of testing is very minimal. Emissions testing must be done with filled cartridges. There are two key factors which influence the emissions testing results. These two factors are the hardware and oil. When an individual is vaping on a cartridge, the cannabis oil inside is heating up and turns into small droplets of liquid oil which is known as aerosol, or more commonly, vapor. When the cannabis oil gets heated up and reaches its “boiling point”, it no longer has the properties that it originally did. Some substances in the concentrate go through significant chemical changes. Any sort of contaminants that leach into the oil due to the oil touching the materials in the cartridge can also make it into your lungs. As a company, we find it important to have all of our cartridges tested repeatedly by our clients and pass emissions testing with their oil for the safety of consumers. We are also working towards a partnership with a testing laboratory to complete emissions testing for our cartridges with a controller oil provided by the testing laboratory.

What is your fail rate?

Blinc’s fail rate on all products is below 1%. We work directly and exclusively with top ISO and cGMP certified manufacturers, bypassing sub-par middlemen and trading companies. At the core, we have ensured that Quality Control is in place at every step of the process, from sourcing, to product development to assembly, overseen by our teams in the United States and China. We take pride in providing guaranteed, high value products and services with full transparency and reporting at every step of the process. Our process ensures that our clients are protected and their offering is future-proof despite regulatory uncertainty.

Can I customize a mouthpiece?

Our standard mouthpieces vary for each 510 thread cartridge and ready to use disposable. Each collection of mouthpieces is available in a multitude of materials, including ceramic, metal and polyurethane. All ceramic and polyurethane mouthpieces can be ordered in any pantone color, while the metal mouthpiece models come standard in silver and can be ordered in gold, rose gold, gunmetal or black electroplating. If our standard mouthpiece collection is not a perfect fit for your brand, we can create a fully custom mouthpiece for you to use exclusively with your disposable vaporizers and 510 thread cartridges. To start this process you will need to engage with our product design team and go over your brand and product requisites – colors, shapes, materials, etc. We will want to clearly understand your vision, what you want to achieve and you want to communicate with your intended target audience. Once we have a full creative brief from you, our product designers will develop a few concepts that fit the outlined criteria and will share those with you for approval, this process usually takes 2-4 business days, depending on design complexity. Upon selection of one or more “semi-finalists” we will create a set of rapid prototypes and will send them to you to touch, feel and experience. Upon approval of the final form factor, materials and color(s), your new proprietary mouthpiece is sent off to engineering for a final pre-production sample. You will receive your engineering sample within 2 weeks and upon approval the production of moulds and your final product lines will begin.

How do Blinc vape cartridges compare to CCELL?

Powered by Blinc hardware and CCELL, made by Smoore Technologies are both ultra premium brands with similar properties when it comes to attention to detail and quality. Both Blinc and CCELL cartridges are made from high quality materials like ceramic and borosilicate glass, while CCELL still does offer some products made from plastic.

What CPS values can your carts handle min-max?

Our cartridges and disposables were designed with a wide range of viscosity in mind. Viscosity also changes depending on the type of terpenes added, it’s shelf life, and temperature. Temperature is an important factor as the temperature rises, viscosity decreases. We start the conversation with our clients by first discussing their formulation and terpene content. Based on that information, we will make hardware suggestions and then coordinate performance testing to ensure the right fit. Every oil is different and so we encourage our clients to take the time to conduct proper performance testing. We are always happy to help. We can arrange samples, set up online surveys and interview participants. All of this will not only ensure that the right Blinc cartridge is chosen, but also help confirm that important details like resistance and aperture hole diameter are dialed in. Blinc works with some of the largest Canadian LPs and MSOs on every type of vape formulation imaginable. We also work with extraction wizards that are capable of producing the most wonderful “craft” oils available. From THC / CBD “ratio” formulations to the highest end full spectrum California sauce, live resin and pressed rosin. We have a solution for you! When choosing a disposable for resin or rosin, remember that these oils are trickier to get into a cartridge as well. So part of the selection process is to determine how much heat we can add to the oil to reduce the viscosity without burning off the terpenes. This is important because some cartridges allow for smaller gauge syringes, ideal for full spectrum oils, and others do not. Contact us. We’re happy to discuss in more detail.

Can we change the color of the glass?

Each brand should have a unique identity and with that comes a unique color palette. When it comes to aesthetics, one of the biggest differentiators of Powered by Blinc 510 thread vape cartridges and all in one disposables is the innovative color-tinted glass option. Everyone has a clear glass cart, when Powered by Blinc – you can have your glass color match the brand or the strain line color and really stand out at the point of sale.

Our 510 thread vape cartridges are constructed with Borosilicate Glass, because not all glas is created equally. Product safety and compliance is in our DNA and is our top priority when it comes to any cannabis vaping products. Our Borosilicate glass is a special kind of glass which incorporates two chemicals in high concentration: boron trioxide and silica. These safe and environmentally-friendly chemicals make borosilicate glass more heat resistant than other forms of glass on the market. Four factors differentiate borosilicate glass from its regular soda-lime glass counterpart. It is thermal shock resistant, meaning you can pour boiling water into a borosilicate glass jug and it won’t crack. The borosilicate glass is harder than regular glass as it can be moulded into more complex shapes. It is also more resistant to acid erosion (which is why you commonly find it used in chemistry labs). Just like regular glass, borosilicate glass is completely non-toxic. Companies like Pyrex use it as a safe material to make heat-resistant glass jugs, glass bottles, and cookware. Food and drink from borosilicate containers often taste better because the material does not leach out, as it does in plastic bottles and other BPA-containing packaging.

What support does Blinc provide for its’ vape cartridges?

The Blinc Customer Success Team provides ongoing support and communication every step of the way. From time of order to delivery and beyond, the CS team is fully transparent providing regular updates and advice.

One key differentiator for Blinc is our automation support that we provide our clients. As a manufacturer of vape hardware, the Blinc Group is very aware of and sensitive to the hurdles our clients must overcome in order to efficiently fill and cap vape cartridges. In fact, our Customer Success team works directly with the automation companies to ensure that our cartridges and disposables are universally compatible. Our job does not end when the shipment of cartridges is delivered to the client’s facility. We want to help our clients be operationally efficient.

That requires working through all filling and capping SOPs with our clients and ensuring that the equipment they are using is properly calibrated to our products. “We see ourselves as a partner, not a vendor. We take a consultative approach to help our clients not only choose the right vessel for their oil formulations, but also figure out best practices for their production. Sometimes SOPs need to be tweaked. Sometimes clients need advice on what machine to purchase. Sometimes custom trays need to be ordered. Sometimes the client’s ops team simply needs more training on the machine they have purchased. In having these conversations and acting as the liaison between the client and the automation company, Blinc adds tremendous value to the client partnership. The message to our clients is that we’re in this together. We’re an extension of your ops team.” says Carl Giordano, Director of Customer Success & Automation.

In a recent case, Blinc’s automation specialists arranged an onsite validation test for a major MSO. Blinc worked with automation machine technicians and the client’s ops team to determine the right temperature settings of the oil through the fill and cap process, proper cartridge orientation, needle gauge, psi required to cap the carts, and other factors. The result was fine tuned SOPs and a properly trained ops team ready to fill and cap cartridges at scale. In other cases, Blinc coordinated the retraining of staff on filling and capping machines that hadn’t been used in a while and advised on the purchase of new automation technology. Introducing new cartridge or disposable SKUs sometimes requires new trays to be manufactured to fit the new devices. By anticipating these issues and project managing them for the client, the Customer Success team makes every effort to ensure the client is ready to fill immediately after receiving their shipment.

What filling machine is compatible with your cartridges?

We have worked to assure that the top five automation company’s filling machines are calibrated to work with all Blinc products. The Customer Success team has been working closely with ATG Pharma, Convectium, Schaefer, Thompson Duke, and Vape-Jet to be able to provide you with the information you need to improve upon and expand your filling and capping automation. Typically we start the conversation with our clients by first discussing their current setup and what levels of productions they are looking to get to. Based on that information, we will make hardware suggestions and then coordinate introductions to the automation companies upon request. Every operation is different and we encourage our clients to understand the difference between each of the automated filling solutions.

Can it handle rosin/solventless oil?

The short answer is yes. Blinc has vape cartridge options for every oil type. We start the conversation with our clients by first discussing their formulation and terpene content. Based on that information, we will make hardware suggestions and then coordinate performance testing to ensure the right fit. Every oil is different and so we encourage our clients to take the time to conduct proper performance testing. We are always happy to help.
